I was one happy camper when I came across a post praising the health benefits of dark chocolate! So, I checked out a few other sites I trust and this was the general consensus I came up with concerning the health benefits of dark chocolate.
Health Benefits
- May lower cholesterol
- May lower blood pressure
- Contains antioxidants, magnesium, and potassium just to name a few healthy nutrients.
- Can act as a mood booster (I know it does mine!)
Afterall, who doesn’t love chocolate? Of course, that doesn’t mean that I make it a mainstay of my daily intake. But I do have a healthy dose every day and count it toward the 20% of the 80/20 rule. And every now and then, I even indulge a little.

As for specifics on brands, since I eat very little of it, I don’t really get hung up on which one I choose (as long as it’s dark chocolate, and it does not contain tons of sugar, artificial sweeteners, or hydrogenated oils).
