In 2004 I changed my eating habits and was cured of life-long allergies, joint pains, fatigue, and brain fog. For 11 years now I have followed the advice of Dr. Broer (internationally recognized health and nutrition expert) which is to eat 80% healthy. And I’m happy to say that none of the ailments have returned.
There are 3 things I aim for in whatever I choose to eat. I want the recipe to be:
When reading a recipe, I ask myself if the ingredient are:
Somewhat Healthy (contain a few healthy ingredients)
Healthier (most of the ingredients are healthy) or
Healthiest (All of the ingredients are healthy).
My choices mostly fall into the last 2 categories.
Why I Love Food:
When I decided to give nutrition a try for the purpose of feeling better, I studied health books by numerous doctors and nutritionists. In the books I read I learned things like the following which convinced me to give eating healthy a try:
Red foods contain nutrients that stand at bay around the cells in our body to protect them.
Purple foods were created with nutrients that fight harmful substances that have found their way into our bodies.
Green foods were created with nutrients that clean out our cells.
Whenever I sit down to a plate full of bright colored, delicious vegetables, I remind myself about the God-given nutrients in the food He created for our enjoyment. And I think about how He is our defender, the one who fights on our behalf, and He is the one who cleanses us.
