Thank you for subscribing to Whole Life Recipes. I hope you enjoyed your free eBook, My Food Cure. In this book you will have read about my journey of learning how to eat healthy. As mentioned in the eBook, I began my journey toward improving my health by:
- Doing Research
- Developing a Plan, and then
- Implementing my Plan
In the research phase I learned that drinking an adequate amount of water is not meant just for the purpose of quenching my thirst. Instead, it is crucial to my overall health. When I consider the following facts, I am amazed at the purposes God had in mind concerning water for the health of my body:
- Transports nutrients in and out of cells.
- Increases the efficiency of the cells ability to carry nutrients.
- Transports waste out of cells and out of the body.
- Maintains body temperature.
I had no idea that every time I drank a glass of water it was doing all of this inside of my body. In addition to satisfying my thirst, it was also giving life to every cell which makes up various organs and body systems.
Consider how much of the following organs are made up of water and how not supplying them with adequate water can contribute to the medical conditions indicated:
- Muscles (75% water) – asthma (not enough water in lung muscles)
- Brain (73% water)– Alzheimer’s, foggy brain
- Blood (92% water) – high blood pressure
- Bones (22% water) – arthritis
- Joint cartilage (65 – 80% water) – joint pain
- Lungs (83% water) – asthma
Learning this was enough incentive for me to begin drinking more water. And it was worth developing a plan and implementing the plan:
- We researched water filters and decided which one would best fit out budget.
- We purchased a carbon water filter.
- I made it a goal to drink about one half of my body weight in water. Upon rising I drank 16 ounces of water in one sitting. I then filled the glass again and drank it throughout the morning. After lunch I did the same throughout the afternoon.
It wasn’t long before this became a habit which I still practice today. Whenever I would forget, I could notice a difference in my energy level and mental clarity.
Excuse me while I go get a drink of water….I hope you’ll do the same!

Spiritual Application:
John 4:7-14 tells the story about the woman at the well. In this story Jesus lets us know that He is our source for living water. Think about just a few of the parallels between what water does for us physically and what Jesu does for us spiritually: Jesus cleanses our spirit, refreshes our soul, gives us life.
